Has anyone replaced the main bearing in an Elu MOF 177 ? Mine seems to have gone out of balance and I suspect the bearing, although there doesn't seem to be any noticable play when I waggle it. Is there a special tool needed to get the locknut off. Is it threaded. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks Geoff

Thanks Jim the video is quite explicit but I don't think it's for the faint hearted ! I didn't realise that you had to strip down the whole router....thanks again for the link. Geoff

I have done a few 177's in my time
I can now strip and rebuild with 2 new bearings in about 20 mins

Points to watch are only really
the speed control magnet easily breaks

The bottom bearing is held by a nut you need to hold the armature carefully in a strap wrench and then you can either use the proper tool a pin spanner... or carefully with a small parallel punch undo the nut

You need pullers or a press to remove the bearings/housings

contact me if you do need any more help

Ian
