Hello all,

I've purchased one of these off ebay and needless to say, it's not cutting straight! I'm about 2 degrees out and am now stumped as to how to fix this without taking it to a tool specialist and forking out a load of money. I've already adjusted the back stop but this does next to nothing.

Has anyone any ideas on how to rectify this? Failing that, does anyone in the Bedfordshire area know where i can get this fixed?

Cheers in advance

Jim

Hello,

i have the exact same size, and also had that problem, altough it was only less than a degree.

Under the table there is a plastic lever wich locks it in place. The lever is attached with a bolt wich goes into a metal part wich is inserted in the plastic lever (hope this makes sense :D ), the metal part itself also has threads on the outside and is threaded into the plastic lever. You can adjust the table by playing with this metal part.

Like I said, I hope this makes sense, if not, I can always take some pictures tonight.

Regards, christof.

Hello mate

Ok, to my mind you have 2 choices.

1 Bedford Saw, Ampthill Rd

2 Re Nu, Manton Heights Ind Est.

Both great, if you go for the latter you will meet Derek, who is excellent, if a little eccentric. Knows his stuff though.

PS -I do have one of those saws, which is broken. If you n eed spares I may have them.

I bought mine on e-bay as well and same problem. Nothing to add to Christof's reply other than to say that when cutting, keep the lock knob tightened up once the lever has clicked into place on the table detents (you probably know this already!).
There are also adjustments for aligning the spindle axis to the table in addition to all the other adjustable stops, although I would not go adjusting any of this unless you have a problem. Best get a really accurate engineer's square as this is the only practical way to achieve a square cut. One set, this is a really accurate saw and the induction motor makes it quiet and a pleasure to use. It's surprising how many magazine articles show "professionals" who are using this.
I belive it may be in the process of being deleted from Metabo's range, which is a great pity.
One of the best purchases I have ever made.

This is all great stuff....thanks for all your help.....i'll let you know how i get on!

cheers again...
