I've just bought a BAS316 off a chap on Ebay and I have no idea what the specs are on this machine. Anyone own one that can tell me if I have myself a good bandsaw here or if it's rubbish?

I paid £170 for it inc stand.

Hi mate,

Nothing wrong with the Bas 316, is much the same as the 315 and 317 and many of the other clones, only problems Iv had are the cast aluminium blocks the bearings fit into snap if you over tightnen the bearing nuts, although they are readily available as spares, and its not overly happy at tensioning a blade over a half inch, other than that its easy to set up and stays set up for ages, Oh and change the fence to one of these http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ax ... rod362802/
best move you will ever make

Allan

thanks Allan. I kinda just bid on it and I won it. never really checked it out at all. is there a spec sheet available? need to know cut depths, throat etc

that seems ok then. Not sure if it comes with a fence or not as it didn't have one in the picture.

Right I've found out it doesn't have a fence. So, my options are to get one from Metabo at £84.77 or I could follow the link Allan gave us earlier and get the Axminster jobby for £63.50.

or has anyone got any other ideas? by the looks of the picture of the bandsaw I don't think it has the rail on the table for the fence to clamp to. So, Allan axminster jobby looks favourite providing it's a straight fit.
