Just do your research better next time about what you are buying.

If they've said 25kg and it's 2.5kg it's deliberate. They are selling, that's what their business is - they should know to proof read their adverts, or there's legal outcomes. The Amazon/eBay thing is a totally different subject.

I'd never heard of such a thing - I guess it's a clever strategy if the buyer doesn't price check elsewhere.

If they don't accept to pay for the returns I'd keep it - you've paid £19 and got something, and some experience for the bargain price of just £7 to shop around next time; or you'll pay £7 and have £12 back and nothing else. Presumably you'll use the £12 to buy a bag of fertilizer from amazon for.... £11.99.

I saw a Judge Judy once whereby a plaintiif was suing for the cost of an iPhone bought off ebay. They paid close to the full normal price for an iPhone but all they received was a picture as used in the auction.

The defendant - I hate to stereotype but definitely trailer trash - had said she had put all the relevent details in the advert and "it wasn't her fault the buyer was stupid" or words to that effect.

Turns out what she had done was put in the weight section of the advert the full normal weight of a phone, but in the description put the weight of the photo (almost nothing).

Judge Judy didn't spend more than 5 seconds deliberating, tore the defendant a new one and ordered full claim plus costs be paid by the defendant.

It was pretty satisfying I have to say

Yup. There's a lot of it about - "accidental" mismatches between titles and descriptions.

When you wanted to return it (presumably to the Amazon seller), i dont understand why they wouldnt have offered to send you a free return label. It wont cost them anything and there would then be no discussion about whether they should refund your cost of returning.

They sent a return label but postage must be paid at the time of sending. The instructions have a note that says "return postage will be added to your refund it the return is a result of our error". As there was no error by Amazon, and my refund did not come from them, I hold no hope of getting it back unless the eBay seller pays up front.
