Hi, i do apologize if this is a nooby question. I did search, but found i got more confused. I wish to connect my Technology Supplies TS2000 dust extractor with 2M of 100mm flexi hose to my SIP 12" Sliding Mitre saw, which has a 40mm OD outlet. I see many reducer kits online but couldn't find the size i need. Can it be done?

Hi PF...spotted you have a Sip 12" mitre saw....could I be cheeky and ask what model and your thoughts on it.

Regards

Gerry

No Worries man, Id be happy to. Model is 01504. Cost £219 inc delivery. My thoughts are quite mixed though. It will make cheerful garden furniture & fixtures, eg. sheds, picnic benches, trellis's etc, but if you want to mitre picture frames, or trench out lap joints then i wouldn't recommend it. To be fair i'm not sure that even the high price mitre saws can trench as well as a good table saw. Also the 40T blade, as on many saws of this ilk, is not really up to much and i will most likely be replacing that sometime soon. Anyways, check out this thread below if you like.

The 38mm OD of the reducer might well fit inside the SIP 40mm OD outlet.
Sorry, should have pointed out that the outlet on the saw has an ID of 36mm, so don't think that will work. Thanks anyway though

I have in the past suggested that the best way to connect different size hoses to different size outlets is to use universal steering rack gaiters and universal CV boots. It is how i connect my tools and works perfectly for me.

...does the belt drive help lower the noise...how well does the brake function!

Thanks

Gerry
I find it quite noisy, as are a lot of brush motor saws, so i always wear ear protection. imo the belt makes little difference, in terms of noise. The brake is average i guess. I'll time it when i get a chance  edit: takes 6 seconds to stop.

UPDATE - found this on ebay, seems a bit steep for what it is, but hopefully it will do the job.
