I've always worn the disposable material sort of masks with no problem. Worn these for years whilst turning lots of different woods.
Thought i'ld treat my lungs to something a bit more substantial hence the new mask and this happened within 3 wears so no I'm pretty sure its the mask.
Ahhh okies

I think the 3m masks are supposed to be latex? free, as there are a lot of people allergic to latex.

Don't know on that one but have no problems with latex gloves.
I'm stumped.... also gutted coz it's comfy and good for my lungs......
But now its costing me a fortune in makeup covering the eczema up!

Sorry to hear that Melinda. I must admit that 3m mask i have is extremely comfy to wear. After a few seconds i hardly notice i'm wear it. :)

I decided yesterday that I still wanted to wear my mask so put a layer of kitchen roll on the mask...... with a breathing hole in the middle. ....before applying to the face..... that way no rubber touching my skin........

Much better. .. no new marks redness or anything.
It hasn't effected the seal to my face either.... still sound like darth vader and can feel the filters going in and out when I breath.

:D

That's the way! I remember underpinning in a nasty little basement and having a reaction to the mask I had at the time, and head covered in dust etc, now I'm guessing you've got hair on your head but I haven't so I had this red pattern on my head as well! There was a motorbike shop next door though and they had those fire retardant crash helmet balaclava things and a few streets down was c&a's, so by the time my lunch break was over I was done combining the two and although the end result was a bit more terrorist than catwalk it worked so job done
