I've recently acquired a Metabo BAS505 bandsaw and it has transformed my workshop! It's transformed it in my cutting capabilities and also dust!

It's not good and I want to get a dust extractor for use with the bandsaw and also whilst sanding on my lathe.

Record Power have plenty of choice with their RDSE models.

I also note that they have purchased the Camvac company too which look tempting as you can silence them a little by using an optional hose to direct the noise away.

I phoned Record Power today to get more information and the person I spoke to didn't really know the Camvac products very well (it's a recent addition to their range) so I couldn't really get a feel for a difference between their RDSE and the Camvac.

Does anyone have any experience of either of the Record Power dust extractors?

Thanks!

The problem with bandsaws is you need two extraction points one at the bottom wheel and one around the open blade. It is therefore difficult to get efficient dust extraction without going for a massive air volume. The model you highlighted is not a large volume machine. Having said that I used the largest of this type of extractor for years quite satisfactorily but not effective on the bandsaw.
