Folks, I have one of the Axi 10 in table saws, in most respects it is great, save that dust extraction is pretty poor. After a few cuts there will be dust in and under the machine and distributed over the saw table. I have connected all of the internal and external ducting, and the machine is thence connected to a 1100 watt 53 litre per second extractor, but when in use I can still dust coming out from between the panels of the pedestal.

Sooo.... does anyone have any tips or workarounds to improve dust extraction on this machine?

According to the spec for this machine it requires 1000 cubic metres per hour extraction, you are supplying 190.8 meaning its not going to do much.
 
What is your extractor? It sounds like one of those vacs with a 60 / 100mm hose?

You really need an HVLP chip extractor with as much hp as possible (preferably at least 2hp). Even then, the blade housing isn't particularly good in that saw (I have one myself), so don't expect it to be 100% dust free without some custom modifications.
 
Thanks fellas, sounds like I need some industrial level extraction, which I don't have, and am unlikely to have since my ŵorkshop is a fairly cramped garage. I'll have a look at that shroud thing, and if that doesn't help I'll just have to live with it.

Matt would you say that you get good extraction with your 2hp outfit? I may take a look at a 2hp machine, depending on how big they are.

Do you mind me asking what machine you have installed for extraction?
 
Yes, 2hp is plenty for a small shop. I have a Clarke extractor that I got from ebay. Alternatives are the axminster FM300 or SIP do a 2hp extractor
 
Forgive my intrusion but, its not just HP you need, the size of the fan and its extraction rate is just, if not more important, I found I needed all of the extraction power of my Axminster 2000 m3/hr : http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ho ... eal-717658 to clear my PT, check what is offered with anything you are considering, if they don't tell you its flow rate assume its low. :wink:

The HP usually correlates to two key things: the more HP, the bigger the impeller it can drive and the more it maintains speed under load
