Can anybody comment on use of American cherry for external use
I have some chairs which incorporate wrought iron which need the woodwork replacing. I cant get iroko in suitable sizes and dont want to use oak because of staining

No problem with durability class 3 - see post #8 on this thread, but not sure how it would weather though?

What size iroko can't you get?
 
My experience with English Cherry is that it readily rots if exposed to the wet.
I know from experience that any logs left in the orchard ended up as bark enclosed collection of soft wood pulp.
