Dual Action Sanders

I have the new Festool 150 and it's dual action superb. It has both the driven action and the random orbit action so you have the option to use the same loading twice before moving to the next grade if it suits the job in hand.

I have teamed it up with the Festool Midi vac and the combination is excellent for dust removal - something to do with "the hole in the middle" - whatever, it works well.

I reach for it constantly and so far (1 year approx?) its totally reliable and a pleasure to use.

I also have the Metabo Duo but I think the action here is different to the Festool - my Duo is always in random orbit mode; but it has 2 orbit sizes.

In the "driven" mode the Festool can reduce a board to dust in no time with the right grade.

I find the Festool discs last well compared to others I've tried - maybe its the discs or maybe its the efficient dust removal. I suspect a bit of both because my Hermes discs last longer in the Festool too.

If I was in the market, I'd definitely buy the Festool again because it does its job quickly and well so its a real time-saver for me - but yikes ...... that price !! Mike

I have the big Metabo sxe 450 I bought it before I got into Festool otherwise I would have got the Festool one. The Metabo is great cant really fault it, no sign of any dust when connected to my Festool midi vac.

I think they have just updated it aswell.

I found the same aswell. Yried them but the edges didn't hold up anywhere as long as just about any other make I use (Makita, APTC, Bosch).

I have the old sxe450 duo which is excellent the best on the market for me, but i have used the New turbo version OMG! what an amazing machine not only bigger orbit sizes but the turbo boost is great for initial stock removal, the turbo also slightly smaller than the due which makes you feel more in control, i have day dreamed whilst using this machine, always use a dust extractor tho, i dont see the point in ruining i price of material by scratching it when dust gets caught between the grits i have a ASR2025 that is great. the Dewalt model is just not the same internally all though looks the same its not.

I used mine very extensively for both aggressive and finishing work for several years without complaint

big bore extraction

powerful motor

inline grip (which I find more controllable)

Mine was fitted with a decent length of perelli flexible rubber cable


My only regret is lending it out to someone who actually manage to kill it
