Carbide rotary file/burr will work for that if you don't mind cleaning up the dust and debris. Wear PPE as you don't want to breath the stuff growing in the pipe. :wink:

Thanks Lons but it wasn’t so much your observations as the sheer difficulty I’ve found in doing the drilling which has put me off. I’ve already shelled out on the Starrett cutter and I don’t want to commit any more cash to this when I can see a solution which is only marginally less aesthetically pleasing. And good idea Sunnybob but the hole would be beneath the pan.
