Drill press return spring

Greetings Oh sage ones,
I have a Record DMD24A drill press, and the return spring has broken near the centre. I have contacted Record, and they tell me that the part is no longer available. Can anyone suggest an alternative source, please?

Try Airedale springs, Haworth.

Measure the spring and gauge and they will have / make you one up.
