I have made a chest of drawers from elm.

I am thinking of buying some round unfinished knobs and staining with a mixture of Liberon finishing oil and a dye stain.

I see that the three types of unfinished knobs i can buy come in
Oak
beech
cherry
pine

Has anyone done this?
Which type of unfinished knob would give the best results/ nearest match, or does it matter?

you could also get one of the round side - like richard findley to make them for you in any wood or style you wanted.

Must i go over to the THE ROUND SIDE???????

Have you bought any of a different wood and stained them up?

BSM, you're not on commission you know!!!!    but thanks for the recommendations anyway!!!!

Dick, let me know if you would like me to turn you any knobs, otherwise I reckon Oak would be your best bet.

That said, the others may be ok but it depends how you apply the stain. I've found spraying stain gives a pretty even finish even on Pine and Beech!!!

Cheers

Richard
