Hi,
I am after some advice on he above Dovetail Jig. I have recently bought a Trend T7 Plunge Router and was wondering if this would work with the Porter cable Dovetail jig. If so would I need to buy anything else as some of the other jigs such as the UJK one require you to buy a unibase to make it compatible. Advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Dave

Most of the jigs for dovetails require you to have a unibase which then allows you to fit guide bush to use the jig . I have no knowledge of porter cable but theirs is unlikely to be any different to the rest of. Again most makers give instructions on what else you need to use the jig .

According to the porter cable manual your router must accept their template guides, see screen shot below.

Is there any reason you particularly want the porter cable one? If you went for a European make it would use metric guide bushes which should fit directly to your router.
I used to have a Bosch dovetail jig & if I remember correctly it just used a 16mm guide bush that fitted directly to my DeWalt router.

On the Axminster jig it comes supplied with a top mounted bearing straight cutter. So that size of template cutter will do, and as the Ax jig is just a generic model, i would think the same template cutter would work on a range of jigs

Said cutter - For the Axminster/Axcaliber

Jig -if its identical to this one then thats the cutter you would use.

I am new to this so are all unbases the same or is there as specific one I need.my router is a Trend T7. Or can you suggest a good jig. The reason I liked the porter cable jig Is that all the templates are included.
