what a terrible thing to do to a decent chisel, and it wont be long before it sharpens past the edge of the curve on the side...

might be worth making a blade shaped like the front of that without the curve tho...

Judging by the remaining evidence of rust pitting, it wasn't quite such a decent chisel any more. I've had one or two chisels wander into the w'shop in a state where one side of the chisel is virtually eaten away by rust, and would be a candidate for such a treatment to give it some useful life. Hopefully this was such a beast, 'cos it's be a shame if a perfectly salvageable old chisel had been sacrificed.

The concept has been around a while. I don't think this one is particularly well done.

Here is a fishtail chisel I made for half blind dovetails a few years ago. Steel came from a rustly Witherby. Wood is Tasmanian Blackwood ...
