Hi all,
Happy New Year!
I like some advice on the wood to use for an external raised blacony/patio which is 5 ft off the ground, 23 sqm with 4 sets of stairs.
I have a chance to get hold of a large quantity of douglas fir (5 cu.m). It's in the form of large posts and beams and I could size as required. Also, there's 2 cu.m softwood floor beams.
The wood comes from a mid 70's timber frame building which is being demolished. As such it's untreated and varnished - but presumably, that will plane off easily using a planer thicknesser
The plan would be to paint to match the house wooden beams.
Do people think it will it be suitable for the frame, decking and balustrades?.
There is way more wood here than I need, so what else could I use the douglas fir for later on?
