Double top plate on timber frame porch

Hi All,
Just wondering if I need to do a double top plate for my porch. If I can just do a single it would be better as allows me some more height

I can place the trusses so they fall over studs, would that allow me to use just the one top plate?

If you keep the trusses over the studs you`ll be good to go with a single wall plate.
