During the packing up of my workshop ready for moving I took the opportunity to check the inside of my office/work PC, now I thought it would be a bit dusty but this is what I found, I think I'll have to check it out a bit more often.

But with a good suck out with the shop vac and seems to be good as new.

Compared to many I have dealt with, that is clean.

Do you have a compressor with a dry airline?

Blowing it out is far more effective than vacuuming. Especially the PSU.
Blow through that from front and back.

If you can get at the big heat sink that'll be under the fan on the main board itself, there'll likely be a load of fluff in there gumming up the air flow something awful and won't be sucked/blown easily. Removing the fan is simple, probably plastic twisty things attaching it and it won't detach the processor underneath - then you'll be able to get the soft end of a tie wrap between the vanes and clear the gaps out; it'll help with cooling and so performance.

I have a fancy custom-built water cooled PC, which gets a thorough dust out at least once a month!!

Vacuums and compressors (even my big one) will only shift the bulk of the dust, but surface coatings can still remain especially on the fan blades. Get in there with a small ¼" or even 1/8" paintbrush and give it a proper going over. Then blow out a second time to shift that stuff.
Some also suggest using an anti-static cloth to prevent sparks.

We used to have a pair of Amazon parrots. I miss them still as they are great companions when you work at home on your own.

Charlie, the hen bird, in particular was very tame. She'd land on my shoulder sit and preen for a bit then either doze off or if bored run down my arm and deliberately walk over the keyboard to get attention.

We'd had her for a few months and the PC needed something doing to it... There was a good layer of downy feathers, 1/2" thick or so, all over the motherboard.

Friend of mine, also an even more geeky overclocking type than me, has three African Greys - The dander buildup in his rig can get pretty bad if he doesn't keep atop it!!

That said, I have a black Lab, a Border Collie and a Welsh Collie, but their hairs seem to mostly catch on the Silverstone fan grilles... and our clothing, carpets, furniture, etc!!

We bought a touring caravan this year 'cos the missus wanted to spend time in this country taking the dog with us. First time out, a couple of days in Moffat in August it rained very very hard from first night to the morning we left.

I quickly discovered I REALLY do not like the smell of wet lab. #-o Anyone want to buy a virtually new caravan. :lol:

Interestingly enough... the wife has always advocated caravans. Some kind of messed up, rose-tinted nostalgia from childhood holidays in the Lake District with her Caravan Club parents and three siblings... whereas I graduated from the Clarkson University of Caravanning with a treble first!!

And while I still despise the smell of wet motorcycle leathers, I actually find 'wet dog scent' somewhat comfortable. I can also tell the dogs apart, both dry and wet, as the six different aromas are surprisingly unique!

But the worst smell of all is the electronic burning of quad-SLI GTX Titan graphics cards, because one's rig has not been properly dusted out.....!! :shock: #-o
