A am saying stay away from the digital type.
I have several digital measuring devices, depth guages angle finders etc.
Always a pain, the battery is always flat when I need it. I have some old analogue vernier and depth guages which are just as accurate and work without fail.
Also no waste batteries and less plastic involved.

Unless your eyesight isn't quite perfect. Mines there alongside the magnifying glass.
Digital? Mines Mitutoya, same battery 5 years? Accurate, easily readable and a good tool.
Just my two penneth.

After following this thread I have just looked on eBay for Mitutoyo digital callipers and they are £35 new. Seems a bit too cheap. Any body have any thoughts on whether these are the genuine article?

AVE has a good review of real v fake - including explanation of why batteries run down so quickly iirc

(Probably ****! - Language in places is a bit choice )

We also use Mahr MarCal at work - but way overkill for timber work.
