Diesel vs petrol pricing

If you scroll down a bit here one of the cheapest places is Luxembourg, even Germany is a lot less expensive than the UK. If them what's abroad can have cheaper fuel, why can't we?

Does anyone know if the Govt stealth tax on fuel is per litre or on a sliding scale depending on the actual price of the fuel from the garage?

I thought diesel was considerably cheaper than petrol to produce as it is less refined.

Me too. I recall hearing some numpty (G*vt. Minist*r) saying recently that the reason diesel is more expensive is that "not enough is made." Say WHAT?

Diesel has gone up by 3p per litre where I am in the last ten days. What is it going to take before the worm turns, I wonder? :x

The British worm never turns! We are the most complacent people on earth! In France the barricades would be up and in Pakistan the place would be burning.
We smoulder and put up with it and the politicians know this!
Even India has reduced the tax on fuel, you don't have to be the Chancellor to work out that hiking fuel costs will increase the cost public and private motoring, fuel delivery itself, heating costs, (just think what that alone will cost the NHS) food and every single facet of modern life.
But of course you an always blame it on the world economy and those nasty little Chinks for using more than their fair share!

If ever anyone manages to get a fuel protest going again,
the country will definitely come to a stop.
In fact i would go as far as saying with all the price increases
lately(gas,elec,food,fuel) soon something has got to give..........

Unfortunately Andy, there will ALWAYS be someone who is'nt satisfied and will want more than the next chap, hence capitalism, it started in the year dot and has'nt ended yet.
