Hi,
Any advice with this very welcome!

We have a. DEWALT DW8003 pull saw which has worked faultlessly for years and it's now decided not to? You can turn it on and it just trips the fuse immediately? The blade spins fine?

More info, single or three phase ? Have you inspected the cable, it sounds like a sudden change from working to this and a damaged cable is easy to check, any mice ?

What exactly is tripping, cutout, plug fuse, MCB, RCD?

A good visual inspection of the wiring and connections from the plug to switch to motor would be a good start.

“More is missed by not looking, than not knowing”.

Hi....many thanks
I've had a look at the wiring and it seems fine at both plug and input ends. It's tripping the consumer unit MCB /RCD?

If it is an RCD that is tripping then that could be an insulation issue as those devices work on an inbalance between lines. At any point in time all the line currents will sum to zero, if one is leaking to ground you get an inbalance and it trips.

So the weather has turned, any possibility of damp in the motor ?

Many thanks - I think that could well be it - I need to do some fettling with the saw and come back on here if no progress.
Cheers
Matthew
