Hi there

Bought a new blade for my mitre saw many moons ago. Went to get it out and realised that the bore (hole in the middle) is 25.4 rather than the 30mm that fits the saw!!

Can't really return it as I dont have a receipt.

Question is, if I take it to an engineering shop, could they drill the bore to the correct 30mm or should I try to sell the blade and start again?

Seems a real shame as I was looking forward to some sweet cuts!

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob

Any decent engineering shop will be able to drill/ream the bore to 30mm

It depends on the quality of the blade if it's worth having done though - if it's only a cheap blade then you might be better off getting rid of that one and buying a new blade. If it's a good quality blade then it's definitely worth having it re-bored.

No harm in getting some quotes from local engineering firms.

Any decent sharpening shop will be able to ream out to whatever bore you need, plus drill out for locating pins, woodruff ways etc.
No need for an engineering shop which would probably cost more if they are not already set up for it as a saw shop would be..
