I am trying to cut small pieces (i.e 50mm x25mm) as well as slight larger pieces (300mmX600mm) with accurate straight edges.

I have a bandsaw and a scrollsaw but neither gives the results I need. My budget is very limited around £100 max, I considered the Proxxon bench top saw but that would that would lack capacity for larger pieces. A cheap table saw but I suspect that lack accuracy and be difficult do small pieces.

This leads me think only option is to buy good handsaw and clamping system, but not sure what type saw would be best e.g Gents, small Dovetail or Japanese saw?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I would set up the band saw correctly and use that. Never used a scroll saw so cannot comment on the suitability.

For the 25*50mm bits, get a strip of 25mm and cut off 50mm pieces. Get a shooting sander from veritas and square up the cut edge if necessary, but you shouldn't need to.

The larger pieces shouldn't be an issue either with a well set up saw.

I agree with marcros, a bandsaw should do that easily for you without difficulty. Are you perhaps having problems setting up the bandsaw or scrollsaw accuratley? I am often cutting small pieces like that.

The bandsaw has a habit of bowing in the middle of the cut,

I have adjusted the tension, tracking and the blade guides, to remove this but then the blade does not running smoothly and seems to bind

If I want accuracy then I scribe the line with a scalpel or knife, cut close, and then plane down to the line.
