Evening all

I am seriously considering buying a Delta bobbin sander and wondered if any of you guys own one and have an opinion to share and if anyones bought recently and knows where the best deal is to had.

Thanks in advance

Richard

Hi Richard, I've used the Delta BOSS, the Sip model and the Jet.
Here's my take on all 3:

Delta : For- heavy and substantial build, smooth running, powerful
Against - Cost and no tilting table

Jet : For- heavy and well built, smooth running, powerful, tilting table
Against- cost

Sip: For- adequate build & finish, reasonable power, sensible cost
Against- not alot really but could run a bit smoother

So, there you go, an indepth appraisal...........
Bear in mind I've only used these 3 models at shows and demos etc, I've never owned any of them and have no experience of spindle quality or spindle fitting or indeed prolonged use.
Personally I'd be drawn toward the Delta or the Jet but if budget was an issue I'd be happy with the Sip. One other make to consider is the Charnwood but know nothing about it. Can't really think of any other makes. If you check out some of the US sites you should get some reviews on the Delta and the Jet. Try www.epinions.com and www.amazon.com

I have the Delta-it's a very handy tool to have and I'm really pleased with mine!
As Noel said, there is no tilting table option. But it's never been an issue for me.
Cheers

Hi Richard,

I have the Jet version and like all Jet tools it is solidly made and performs well. I have used the tilting table facility and very useful it is.

Sorry I cannot comment on the Delta because I have never used one. However I do have a couple of Delta machines (TS and drill press) and find the build quality on them equally as good.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the info, sorry to say I have whimped out and bought a bobbin set for the pillar drill instead, mainly because I also wanted a L N block plane and getting official authorisation for both seemed a remote prospect. Any way the orders in for both with APTC and I'm hoping I won't be disappointed. Thanks once again to all who replied.
