Hi all, 4 months ago i applied to do some volunteer work for a very well know local charity organisation.

References taken up VERY quickly....

I have been chasing it up every now and then, and told not to worry as these things take time.

But..... 4 months later and they've just told me that although they've found my application form along with references etc, they have no trace of the DBS form.

Really...!!

I rang the DBS last Thurs and asked if they have my form. No trace was the reply. Plus it should take no longer than 40 days...

The charity organisation are being very apologetic and offering to pre-fill it in another one so all i have to do is sign it. But what would they know what to fill in.... if they hadn't kept a copy of the original form i did..?

Is this against not only the DBS rules but also the data protection act... photocopies of forms etc....?

I used to coach ice hockey, and had to get this done every couple of years. It really doesn't matter who fills it in as long as it's accurate. You'll need to check it thoroughly and sign it. They'll get a copy of the resulting checks, as well as you. They'll need to keep their copy on file while you're working with them.
