If DS were a bit less coy about sold prices I might be more tempted.

I don't think they are coy, it just doesn't make any business sense to go to the effort.
There were plenty of punters there is morning the car park was chocker.
The whole thing is really aimed at e-bay "merchants" these days, some of them go home with a van loaded down with umpteen lots of "a box of tools" ( looks like carp to me) which they tidy up and sell individually at silly prices.

I was tempted by some of their tool boxes which only seem to crop up on the bay for silly money or long drives. If any of those who did go noted down the sale prices of any relevant lots I'd be interested.

They do publish all the "prices realised" a few weeks after the auction. So if there was something you were specially interested in, note the lot number while the catalogue is still online at the saleroom.com, then check back later when they put the list up. (It's easier if you have a printed catalogue from the day.)

Do you mean chests or those cases that look a bit like a suitcase?

Chest is best.

Tool chests make nice coffee tables, I stripped and fixed one for this, 20 years ago but I have always been a trendsetter
I suspect you a re in competition with all the inner M25 hipsters, they can be had for around 50 quid up here in the sticks

If you want a tool case I have a few getting under my feet, you can have one if you fetch it.

Ha yes I had noticed the better ones end up in the coffee table market. Anyway that's a very kind offer, thanks Lurker.. It so happens I'm driving to Manchester in a few week (June 10th) to pick up my daughter from uni. Mind you I'm not sure I'll have room in the car for a tool chest. I'll see. Perhaps I could leave here behind and free up the front seat!

I blame David Stanley for getting me selling on ebay. It was the left over stuff from purchases that got me into selling a few tools. I reckon when i go to the auction i keep half and self half. In this one i bought some wood ( they need to sell more) and some lathe tools for my new to me engineering lathe. I slso bought a lovely plane from roger smeaton and got a stanley 49.
I also bought two boxes of planes, why, because i like restoring them and its chesper to buy unfashinable planes for the handles so i can fix some nice old stanley/recordsthan it is to buy new handles. Over time i have accumulated lots of part planes and rather than see them rust i sell a few when fixed. Imight make a fiver if i ignore my time involved. It pays petrol and i have a nice day out. I think a few other people must fo the same. The fact is like it or not ebay is keeping a of this stuff in users andcollectors hands rather than the skip. The only sad thing is over half of what i sell goes abroad.
If it makes you feel better i bought a socket set fortoo much money bevause i thought it had some drill bits i wanted.

Please do shout up Owen and would be a pleasure to meet with you.
It's good to know each other especially when bidding for mixed box lots.
The majority of us know Bill & Sarah Carter so ask him and all will be revealed.
There was a new face with some stunning "head art", if that was you Owen I hope you managed to fit it all in :D
My spend this sale was next to nothing but it's not necessarily all about the buying, meeting up with you folks makes it a social event.
Good to see you again Jim 8)
Cheers
Andy

No tattoos for me, full head of head. Plus i think he was an american. It would be nice to meet up i would prefer to have some company.
I have been a fair few times but avoid the international as i tend to use stuff. If i went to that i would probably buy a pricelesd axe sharpen it and then break it!
