OK, I have now spoken to a number of people and things are taking shape.

The date is still September 1st.

The location is now Sudbury Suffolk.

The Workshop is not as large or well equipped as Nick's but you are now officially invited to the DaveL bash. :D

I have spoken to Mike Hancock (Classic Hand Tools) and he is coming along, if there is anything he sells that you particularly want to see then let us know. He can not promise to bring it, he may of sold them all during the previous week. He is trying to organise a special or two that will appeal to some of our members, but my lips are sealed. :-#

Colin is up for a live veneering demo, will there be screams this time?

I am hoping that some other members will be bring things they have made and/or demonstrate some of their skills. 8)

I have a small marquee booked for the garden in case the weather is not on our side.

Parking will be a little tricky as we live at the end of a cul-de-sac, but should not be a major problem. Sudbury Station is just over a mile away, if trains are your chosen means of transport.

Oh and if you absolutely hate dogs then I am sorry but this is not the bash for you. We have two, Samwise who is quite distinguished (old) and will probably go and find a corner to lay in and then there is Iona. Everybody is her friend, she will introduce herself and be interested in most things that we try to do.

Hi Dave,

Sorry, really would like to have met up with you again but the date is too close to my UK trip starting tomorrow. I am going to Steve's Big Bash this Sat. hope to see you there.

Aaaargh - even further east! ](*,) I hate living in Cornwall, I hate living in Cornwall, I hate living in Cornwall, I hate living in Cornwall... Good on you for picking up the ball, Dave. Did you ask SWMBO first, or will it be a lovely surprise...?

Cheers, Alf

If transport's a problem, Alf, I'm sure some of us who are going could arrange something to help out. It would be good to see you there

Cheers

Anythings possible.

Ah, gents, your positive reaction shames my own negativity and I'm suitably chastened. I will make a fresh assault on the runes and see what can be done.

Cheers, Alf

That's the bit I'm struggling with. Some of us would give our right pinky (an arm is too much) to live there again. Some people just don't appreciate what they've got.

A Cornishman in exile!

But not as far north! 8)
It would be great to see you again Alf, if you can find a way of venturing across the border.

The LOML says it should be OK, :D
Don't think even I would invite a hoard of Woodies round without asking first. [-(

So what is the collective name for woodworkers? :-k

I'll swap! (as long as I can have your workshop  )

I moved out 10 years ago and have been trying to get back ever since. I now have 5 kids and 8 grandchildren down there and I (we) are all on our own up here on Exmoor.

Grass is greener Alf?

Pete

Dave; d'oh - eyes and no eyes #-o Mind you, getting permission the first time is probably the easy one... 8-[

Pete, well obviously the grass is greener - did not those feet in ancient times walk upon England's green and pleasant land? But yeah, you're right; thing is it's the 1 1/2hr drive to even get to some other grass that drives me nuts. Dammit, I'm too young to be a hermit!

Paul, ooo, I like that one. :D And of course things would go with a swing and hopefully everyone'd sweep up afterwards before being chucked out...

Hat, coat, door, return to old grass  Alf
