So I drilled a load of holes in the intake pipe, and then fitted a rotating sleeve around it so I could vary the numbers of holes that were open. The idea was to increase the flow rate through the cyclone. It seems to have been beneficial but I haven't tested it particularly scientifically.

Thanks for your help with this ;) I've plumbed the new metal container back in and replaced crinkly hose with smooth pipe and hot glued the connection to the cyclone. At the moment the suction at each sander is great. I'm gonna try and forget about it now and have a look in a couple months to see what's collected in each.
I thought I was onto a winner when I spotted a 'bosch gas 35m afc' for less than £350 in store. The plan was to use that and add to the setup, turns out they put the wrong sticker on the extractor

After reading about them being overpriced on a lot of stuff I thought I'd found a good deal- just as well I didn't drive and pick it up Saturday without ringing to check it was still in stock first !!!

Cheers
