It's the second time I've seen Steve Woodley demonstrate the use of axes. Whilst it might not sound exciting, it's really interesting for adults and children alike and well worth seeing if you get the chance. My 6 year old son was fascinated by his demjo at West Dean in July.

All in all a great show. Can't wait until the next one :)

I agree with every one else it was a great show.
Not too busy, stunning setting and helped by very good weather.
I don't really get hand tools so the Holty plane that David Charlesworth was enthusing about looked superb but £2500?
Very close was a Hammer combination machine that cost less and does a lot more, is it me?
The Maguire work benches were also superb but belong more in the living room than the workshop.
Apart from the show a real bonus for me was the four white storks that circled over the walled garden for about 10 minutes in the early afternoon, beautiful birds and somewhat rare in the UK.

Yes it would have been nice if there were more power tool manufacturers there but even a committed "Normite" like me found interest in all the barns/marquees.

I do hope this show becomes an annual event, well done to the organisers.

Martin.

I've been to many a woodworking show over the years, some of which I've organised myself. Cressing Temple was by far and a way the most enjoyable, and we sold more subs in a weekend than at any previous event.

Huge congrats to Mike and the team at Classic Hand Tools. They have created something really special which I'm sure will just get better and better, while retaining a remarkably relaxed atmostphere. I've never seen so many happy faces at a woodworking show before. Let this be the way things go in the future.

Or the beers. I'm still drinking the St Peters brews I returned home with. Thanks to the girls from St Peters who supplied me with Grapefruit Beer at 8.30am on Saturday morning, even before a cuppa tea, as, they said, "One of your five a day!". Good times!

Having got the latest issue of British Woodworking to press on the Friday afternoon, after some very long nights, I was ready for refreshment! Much appreciated, and I hope they'll be there again next year.

Good work everyone. Great to see so many friends. Apologies if I didn't recognise anyone: that was the beer!!!!!

I've only just had chance to see this threading having been away since Cressing. Good to see those I saw even if some have described me as "terrible" - what did I do wrong Tom?

I was hoping to see here a video of some woodworker who entered the woodturning barn (Hades?) and was later found playing on a lathe - must have been dreaming

For those interested plans are under way for next year's show which looks to be bigger and better than this year with an increased line up and international woodworkers.

Nothing at all Mark, I'm absolutely loving my new tool

It was great to meet you, look forward to next year (please don't show me any tools) ;)

Just seen your munro practice pieces - I think you may need the calipers next

Yep got some now Mark. Just waiting for some time I can set aside for doing another HT. I ordered the scraper attachment the othetr day, do you use that?

Whist there are dates for the Cressing Event on CHT's newsletter there's no mention of a West Dean Event next year which is a great pity as it's a lot nearer to me?? :(
