I used City Link once to pick up an item bought on e-bay. They failed to pick up twice and then damaged the item in transit. Seems from the reviews in this link that they are pretty consistent at being *****:

Hi all, have you ever heard of timed delivery, a customer i was working fro told me a courier turned up and would not let him have the parcel for 10 minutes as it was timed

IIRC we had the same thing with a delivery at work, but the punchline was a 10 minute wait between signing for two different deliveries to the same address, but worded slightly differently. This meant they appeared as two different addresses on the manifest, so a 10 min gap was required between signatures. Ludicrous.

Not sure on the costs, but we seem to book TNT on a daily basis at work to collect deliveries from us and we tend to recieve a fair amount from them too.

Hi all, today i had a big bust up with Pallet Force, heres the story, sent out one of my Duck Houses to Botley Chesham last week £45 they then asked for an extra £6 as i asked for a tail lift even though they always send me a lorry with a lift. Customer emailed me friday to say they left a card saying no one home ring this number. Customer says they were home all day, and may of been on the phone at 5.15, the time of delivery. I rang the forwarding company this morning who said the pallet was on the lorry for delivery. Next thing i get an email from pallet force my end saying the delivery has been stopped until they get another £25 for redelivery, so held to ransom i payed so the customer can get her duck house. Customer now firing off not with me but the delivery company, contacting trading standards and all sorts, saying she was home etc etc. I told her i have payed the £25 and not to bother complaining as they will waste a lot of time and get nowhere. just put it down to experience and i shall never use them again.
