If you read my recent workshop pics thread then you will know that although I have been on here a while I have only just had the time to get pics on.
Heres a sycamore lamp I did a few years back. I chose syc as its rather plain but shows detail well. By the side is a small goblet turned from a mahogany blank with beech dowels inserted and behind is an ash dyed vase which now holds the indoor plant tools.
I also mentioned in the workshop thread that I have seasoned some timber. Here is an ash mallet I threw together from some of the smaller branches. This is just to see how the wood behaves. There is no finish on it (bare timber straight off the lathe) and I have it in the dinning area of the kitchen so its subject to humidity and heat changes frequently.
Timber was at 16% moisture when turned 2 weeks ago. So far no cracks at all. The handle is not glued and appears to be as good a fit as when it came off the lathe.
