Could this be used the same way as the triton?

The Triton dust extractor uses a cyclone to drop the dust out into the can with only the very finest of the dust hitting the filter of the machine providing the suction.
This is not a cyclone type bit of kit. It has a filter in the can and that will clog with dust quiet quickly. but I suppose you could run with no filter installed and just use it to extend the time between emptying the main bin, the bigger stuff should drop out in the can. You could of course make something like that from a 5 gallon drum and a few waste pipe fittings for less than £16.99.

My Triton and the others I have seen must be different then!

The Triton has no cyclone in its design at all, just a baffle plate at the inlets (2 0ff) and a fixed filter that covers the entire inside of the lid - which does choke quite readilly. No dust gets to the machine providing the suction.

But maybe there's a different design ..............

Interesting set up of lydl, had to put in my post code fot go to my local store.
I suspect I shall get put on the email posting list.

As Another Dave has pointed out, the Triton Dust Bucket is not a cyclone, although there are cyclone modifications of the bucket out there. The Lidl ash collector looks like it works in much the same way. The only way we will know for sure is if you buy one, try it out and post a review
