Coronet minor lathe

I inherited a coronet minor lathe with sander, table saw and planer attachments. My dad had this for as long as I can remember and it hasn't been used in years. I've put it all together and it's all working except for the switch that keeps over heating and cutting out. I've cleaned all connections but to no avail. The machine will run for about a minute under normal use and then the switch will pop. I've trolled google but being an old machine I have had little luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is the switch overheating because the motor is drawing too much current? It might be worth checking the motor and spindle are both running freely by spinning each of them by hand with the belt tension slackened. If that looks good, measure the motor current when running to see if it's as expected from the motor rating plate.

Looks like you also have the slot morticing attachment at the right hand end of the bed. Can't see a tailstock mounting, so I think technically that's a Minorette, not a Minor lathe. Had one years ago, as did a colleague, who did most of the wood work for reinstating a 17th century stone house. Quirky, but excellent machines. Just make sure you keep the crown guard on the saw in place. Same colleague didn't, bent forward while using the planer and put a neat cut in his forehead!
