Corian pen...

Here's one i made yesterday from an off-cut i was given at the Lambourn Bash last weekend.....

A piece of white flecked Corian. Easy to drill, easy to turn, easy to finish too. There is no 'finishing' product used on this, it's just been sanded down to 1200g then a final wazz with a bit of glass polishing paper.




Also made this too, again from an off-cut given to me on the afternoon....

but unfortunately i cant remember the wood....
I think 'thanks' go to Doug B for both pieces of material



Has anyone managed to have a go at making something from the Kapur i handed out on the day...?

Both pens are lovely, but I particularly like the second one, the grain is beautiful and the lines are simple and very elegant

Hiyas Nick,

Not keen on the first one, don't think the Corian goes well with the black parts.

The 2nd one is a real beauty though ! Love the flecks in the grain

I`ve not had chance to get on the lathe since the bash, but will be using your kapur soon.

Hi Nick,

I like them both too. Funny how tastes differ, but I think the corian does go well with the darker parts. :lol:

Looking at the finish, it doesn't look like you need that buffing system quite yet :lol:

yeah, must admit it was a toss up between making the pen using chrome parts or gun metal....... went for the gun metal finish.

A couple of great pens
Have made in corian myself found it finishes well. I like the white with the darker pen kit sets it off
The second pen is a fine pen the grain in the holly not to bold which I think also sets the kit off nicely.

(Note to self must get some holly)
