Anyone know the best place to pick up some 18 mm by 600mm lengths of walnut conti board I'm based in middlesex . Only place so far I can see walnut is b&q but I don't normally use the sheds only use trade suppliers. I'm gonna give howdens a call maybe their end panels come in walnut.

Yeah I normally use veneered mdf but this has to be melamine which is more hard wearing and doesn't need finishing. I'm trying a company called stantons near me tomorrow they supply various panel products.

Hi chippy

I use a couple of companies in the northeast who supply panels to the small kitchen cabinet manufacturers. I would be surprised if there are not similar distributers near you. If you contact Egger they will list theirs for instance.

I just did a very quick google and came up with this one http://www.wrightscarpentry.com/boards3.html#walnut so if you do another search, I'm sure you'll find others. Most will cut to size for you.

Also http://www.veneeredpanels.com/ - real veneers but if they don't sell melamine, should be able to point you in the right direction.

Bob

Cheers guys, I heard back from stantons today they quoted £75 per 2800 x 2070 sheet of Egger not sure if thats plus vat gotta check. Then theres a £2 per length to edge it for me.

I can get 3 shelves out of a sheet , I need 7 shelves so 3 sheets waiting for the client to get back to me and give me the go ahead.

PS I tried B&Q but the website said no branch has walnut Conti in stock , i phoned them they told me a store can order them in for me but they couldnt say how long it takes, he then said i would have to ring my nearest branch. I phoned 3 branches but no one ever answered the phone  thats why I never use the sheds

That looks like a rip off to me chippy

I've just checked my last purchase (from decorpanel in the NE - they have a website). On 17th Feb, I bought 3 sheets 2800x2070x18 egger lancaster oak MFC (H3308).

They cut each piece into two for me, I collected and my invoice cost was £38 + VAT per sheet. I very much doubt there would be little if any difference for walnut melamine. There was a price increase but even if 10% ....................

I don't have an account with them BTW and paid by card on collection

Cheers

Bob

I agree with bob the egger price seems way high to me it looks like its been doubled. There are 3 bands of pricing for the woodgrains and the most expensive band is still under £40 a sheet. If you go with kronospan its cheaper less than £30 a sheet but the core isnt as good imo. Try Meyer timber or James Lathams if they have a branch near you.

cheers

Jon

That price is from Stanton who are based in Weybridge in Surrey so they probably are over charging as its quiet a posh area  hopefully the Hanworth company will be better.
