Confused?

I want to order a Veritas plane, for the sake of argument, a LA jack. I do a bit of surfing and find that it's on offer here at £142. However, when the order is placed with AHC :wink: , I then see that it will be delivered from here who are the UK importers for Veritas tools (I believe) What is interesting is that when a direct order is placed for the same tool, from the same supplier the price is now £172.26, a not inconsiderable £30 price difference. The tools are identical, being supplied out of the same building by the same firm.
Is it me, or have I had one or four tinctures too many ce soir? :? - Rob

I suspect that AHC are giving up a large part of their discount from Brimarc and passing it on to their customers. I have seen a post that they have the lowest prices for Veritas planes at the moment.

I would say that Brimarc are still making something as the distributor. They must be because otherwise there is no point other than to upset their other loyal agents, like CHT etc.

Matters like this need careful handling in business. If I was an agent for Brimarc I would want reassurance that AHC were not getting a better deal than me, particularly if they were handling shipping as well. This is an indication that AHC do not have stock, and the costs associated with that.

All a bit of guess work really. :roll:

I recently bought the LA Jack from AHC (- a Christmeas pressie!). I've just ordered some more Veritas stuff from them - their prices are very tempting!

I guess both parties are making a profit otherwise they wouldn't be selling ...

I have to say that AHC's and Brimarc's service to date have been very prompt - can't fault them.

Imagine how Brimarc's dealers would feel if Brimarc were selling them planes to be resold at an RRP, and then Brimarc were themselves undercutting that price.

It seems to me that it's entirely fair that Brimarc should be selling at full price.

Guys - thanks for the explanation, couldn't understand the situation, but reading Tonys' post, it makes sense. Have to say that I've also found service from both companies to be out of the 'top drawer' - Rob

I suspect they haven't applied the last price increase they are making very little at those prices

I ordered the Veritas low angle jack plane this morning from AHC and the order was confirmed as received at 10:47 and despatched at 14.13! This is my first order with them and so far I am very impressed...free delivery on the item too

I bought a Veritas large shoulder plane from Brimarc at the Twickenham show a couple of months ago, thinking that being show prices they must be good or the best. AHC are a lot lower. I won't get fooled again. Beautiful plane though!

My LA Jack arrived today from AHC great plane, great sevice, at a great price. I shall be using AHC again.
