Compressor help

Hi all..
I just purchased a compressor with lots of tools it is
a airmaster popular 8/50, I was wondering if anyone out there
has the instructions or diagram for the compressor.

Think it is an 1987 compressor,it holds is pressure although I have
not put it up to its full max. not to worried about its age as it is going outside
behind a brick wall.
I think it was used in a spray room as it smells of paint when I clicked on a drill.
There is no drain plug only a nut so think it has not been drained in a while.


Can anyone help with it please...

What do you need to know?
Id undo the nut and let out whatever liquid is in there.... if any.... and do not breathe it in! It could easily have developed leogionella ( if thats how its spelt )

Look at the water to see how rusty it is. If you have an endoscope/ boroscooe, put ot in the hole and see what it looks like inside.... no point risking it if its already bad

Do you have a water trap in line?

I have on on my small compressor.
This one seems not to have one.
any idea what the large cylinder thing is with the red cap.

that red thingy is a pressure regulater and filter combined....
as for the drain tap ...it'll be BSP and u can get a small lever ball tap from B+Q
or look for one with a stainless ball from Screwfix....
a 90deg elbow, couple of spigots and the valve will be less than a £10er...

Put a valve on the drain and a length of hose pipe so you can drain it regularly. During the damp months my 200L compressor will have a pint of water per day in it.

I had a look through the Clarke compressor range in their manuals page
but couild not finde the airmaster 8/50 so it must be a well discontinued model.

Yes I think it must be but their tech help may have a copy archived away so worth a try

Put a valve on the drain and a length of hose pipe so you can drain it regularly. During the damp months my 200L compressor will have a pint of water per day in it.

That is alot of water to have sitting in a tank, have located a good drain plug recommended by clogs.
I will run a pipe just to see how much water is in the tank.

This might as well be the same manual as your machine.
I doubt it was used for paint as it’s such a small compressor with very low CFM.
maybe try cleaning the filter.

Thanks for the link to this diagram.
I took the filter out and the air was still full of spray paint fumes.
It came with two grit blasting guns as well as spray cans.

I went to replace the drain valve this morning & found the drain plug nut has been rounded,
no Idea how I am going to get it out, have tried grips and monkey wrench. Its stuck fast.
Think as it is brass I could drill through it and try to turn it with a steel bar.

If its smell of paint try changing the filter.

Yes thanks I did manage to get the drain valve off,
had to drill it out then re-tap the thread. I am waiting for a new
gauge to arrive the needle on the old one will not move.
Changed the filter, jet washed the tank got some sludge out, put some evapo rust in
let it sit for a few days flushed the tank again.
So when the gauge arrives it is ready to go.
The big problem is my sister in law wants it..lol
