Compressor air line

Hi

I'm going to pick up a second hand bambi BB15v compressor next week. Like this

Looking at the Bambi website I can't find what the connector is. The nail gun I've bought has a 1/4 inch bayonet BSP fitting???

I afraid I don't have experience of air tools and connectors so....
Can someone recommend what I need? I want a 5 to 6 metre line, not coiled. I also want it to lay where its put not have a mind of it's own so presume it would be better in rubber not plastic.

I don't really mind if I buy it complete or make it up from fittings if someone can tell me what I need. Axminster seems quite expensive for airlines so recommendations of where to buy as well as what to buy would be really appreiciated.

If you have a machinemart local take the compressor with you and the nail gun, their both light enough, they will be only too happy to sort you out, not everything they sell is over the top

Toolstation cat page 42&43 has best most robust type .air line equip is 1/4 inch so start with rubber hose (10m) and order fittings to complete seal with ptfe tape.

Why don't you give Bambi a call - 0121 322 2299 - Tech Dep and ask what type of connector is fitted to the end. Will be a quick release female I would suspect. I use a coiled line for my nail guns - so much easier than a straight line. But to each their own.

p.s. The gun will have a 1/4" BSP fitting, but you can screw various ends into that - PCL male coupling (or something) springs to mind.

So I've established the fitting on the Bambi is 1/4 inch BSP female.

I think I've found some decent and cheap airline on ebay. It comes with 1/4 inch BSP male connectors on both ends.

From what I can see a BSP connector is just a screw thread???? so do I just screw the line straight into the bambi or should I put some sort of quick release connector between them? Quick release would be better for when I move them around I would think so what would I need?


The nail gun has a 1/4 inch BSP bayonet fitting. What do I need to connect that to the air line?

This is the sort of thing you need depends on whats on your hose and whats on the air tool you are going to use. You can have UNI or PCL fittings

Your compressor will have a quick release fitting already attached. It will either be a PLC or UNI style. Both use the 1/4" BSP thread size. Lets say for now it is the PLC type.

The fitting on the compressor will either be no.s 100311 or 100312 depending whether it has a male or female thread but both do the same job.

On your hose with the male 1/4" BSP threads at each end you will need to screw on item no. 100314 to the compressor end.

On the other end you will need to screw on item no. 100311 to connect the gun. Use PTFE tape on all the threads to seal, 4-5 wraps round is enough.

On your gun it will have installed item no. 100313. This will click into your hose connector.

If your gun has a UNI fitting and your compressor and hose have PLC then just swap the guns fitting to PLC.

But avoid the cheap airhose with a yellow/green cover as I had two burst on me.
