Composite tiles - recommendations

Does anybody have any recommendations for a type of tile for the roof of a new build double garage?

I like the look of the composite ones which look like slate but when I search there seems to be a huge amount of options our there with a huge range in price.
I'm not sure I understand the difference between them all....

The main problem with any slate is how long they could be expected to last, I reroofed my extension 14 years ago with composite slates and they seem to be holding up quite well. They usually loose the surface film - showing white porous spots, though there is a paint you can use to dress the surface .
