Como & me.
Members may recall that I posted a jewellery box with a secret compartment some time ago and Como kindly turned me a knob for the opening compartment. Mark (como) kindly said at the time to me that if any further parts were ever needed he would be pleased to oblige.
Below is the latest picture of our combined efforts. It's a remote tidy capable of holding four of the little beasts tidily.
Marks contribution was to make the wooden rivets (dowels with heads) to hold the central dividers in position. These were turned with beech and have a dowel dimension of 10mm and head of 16mm and are 30mm long. I am sure you can see these were a success and in my opinion make a much more decorative finish than dowels could ever have done.
The tidy has been made from Brazilian mahoganies which were off cuts lying in the scrap box for over 3 years and were begging for some project to come to fruition.
I apologise the project is up to my usual standard of awaiting a good sand and finish and as mentioned before on this forum there time for this treatment will eventually come.
I have included two pictures showing how I got over drilling the dowel holes in the dividing battens which were too long to fit my drill press so I brought out of retirement my old Black & Decker drill stand,(70's era). It shows never to chuck anything away.
Rivets
Usual gluing room again
tidy
close up of rivets
its resting place during the daytime when TV no being used.
The B & D drill press
close up of jiggery
Thanks again Mark. Como.
