Circular Saw/Biscuit Jointer

First off, sorry for all the advice posts! :lol:

Anyhoo, can't afford to get a tablesaw at the mo, so I'm going to buy a 240v circular saw for the time being. Cordless isn't a big deal so I'm ruling them out, just after a descent saw that'll rip stuff like oak and the likes without too much bother...

And also a biscuiter, just to keep the laminations as flat as possible to keep tidying up down to a minimum.

I have a DeWalt drill/driver and I'm very happy with it and as far as I can see the rest of the range is also good quality, so the stuff I've been lookin at is also DeWalt.

But open to suggestions.....

Calpol, I have the Makita 5704 which I use in conjunction with a sawboard to break down sheet material. Really good saw. I also have a Freud biscuit jointer (same machine as the Trend T20 but cheaper when I bought it) Also very good. I've used the biccie jointer mainly for putting together MFC kitchen cabinets and am very pleased with the results.

I can also recommend the freud biscuit jointer - excellent machine for the money.

I also use the same Makita saw and a sawboard (and three sawhorses!) when cutting large sheets of ply or MDF.

As for biscuit jointers, don't go for a cheap one as it'll only frustrate you. I've had Screwfix's Ferm model for some time now and, even if you lock of the fence for depth of cut, it can still move halfway down the length of timber! :twisted:

The Bosch jointer came out as one of the Best on Test in a Good Woodworking Group Test last year - but the Lamello's were in a league of their own, of course. :wink:

Thanks all, had a look at the freud and seems like a goodie...

Lamello ones are expensive though aren't they? Were they the first company to make biscuit jointers?
