Christmas present idea -Serving Platter

Seen these in high end kitchen shops, and thought I could make something similar. Made from 12mm ply. Some knots in the inside layers add character. Surprisingly easy to plane the corner down with my trusty old plane. Then used the ROS with 60 through to 180 grit to smooth off the slope. Tidied the edge on a table belt sander and a little hand sanding on the hole.

Finished in Osmo top oil. My wife has already bagged a couple!

They look really good. Won't you have a problem as, presumably, Osmo top oil isn't food safe.

It says it is on the tin! Specifically for wooden kitchen work tops.

I make kitchen boards and use danish oil that is food safe

Many osmo oils and waxes are natural and food safe from what I understand

On the osmo web site they say there product is not food safe for chopping boards and bowls
