Hi there,

This is my first post on this site, and I thought I would start with a simple question....

What is the difference between a bevel edge chisel and a paring chisel. Looking at what is for offer, I can see that a paring chisel has a longer handle. Is this the only difference?

For example, I see Lie-Nielsen off both bevel edge and paring patterns, the only difference they state being the handle length.

Hi and welcome- generally paring chisels have a longer blade and are not intended to be stuck with a mallet - Rob

Jonny,
Welcome to the forum.

Your question is a bit like "What is the difference between a convertible and a four wheel drive car?"

Paring chisels may be beveled or not (most are). A bevel might be found on a paring chisel or a butt chisel.

The terms are not referring to the same attributes.
