Hi am thinking of using this connected to my shop vac to make a cheap dusthood for my mitre saw. it is a tractor funnel.

I do not want to go to expense of buying a proper dusthood as would then have to buy 4 inch hose then adaptors . Can anyone see any issues with this? I have built a portable mitre saw station ( fww magazine design) and have added in a back so would mount it on that.

Thanks Richard

looks good enough - I would mount it with the long base of it level with the feet of the saw (so you can sweep into it) but don't expect a great deal from it, because Mitre saw blades are set so far forwards of the frame, you'll be not catching as much as you might hope for (in my experience anyway) with suction from a normal vac. It'll mostly be the dust rather than all the sawdust, but that at least means you're not breathing it in anymore.
