I suppose it depends what you are using it for ...have you looked on eBay....lots of good stuff floating around on there and sometimes you can snag a "bargain"

Steve .

Not sure what it's going for these days, but I bought a Jet JWBS9 from Axminster for about £100, a couple of years ago.

How much is cheap?

I think a cheap bandsaw will not be up to much from what i have read .

Steve

Ironically, of all the fixed machines, I would rather have a cheap bandsaw than a cheap tablesaw, planer thicknesser or chop saw. That is with the caveat that it is small and cheap- I wouldnt want to try and tension large blades, or to cut 12" timber on it. But for 3 or 4" stuff at most, you should be able to find something. Just save some pennies for a tuffsaws blade.

Hiya, funnily enough I joined the forum today after a year of lurking, mainly because I bought a 10" SIP (for £82) from ebay and will be needing advice regarding setting it up. Plus I haven't used one for about 30 years so I imagine there'll be a few other queries along the way. With regards to tuff blades, I keep seeing them talked up - are they really that much better than the competition? Cheers.

Yes Plus free advice and in the unlikely event that weld breaks, Ian will repair it free
