Hi Guys.
I know Olly asked for a review so here's a quick one.
Oddly this was delivered to my old address even tho I entered my new address correctly. Seller seems to think the courier changed it when they saw my name? Anyway as a stroke of luck the missus was visiting an old neighbour at the time of delivery (new owners where not in).
So I got to have a play today.
It was well packaged and the supplied manual was better than most of seen (pictures would have been nice tho). The cast iron top was covered with a very thin cling film material which broke up in to bits when I tried to remove it, so it took a bit of scrubbing to get it all off. But it cleaned up nice and appears to be flat.
However the table has a small niggle that it is hard to lock. You have to really tighten the knobs, other wise there is a slight rattle. Looking at the way it's made I can't see how a replacement would solve this problem so I will come up with an after market solution for this (suggestions welcome).
Fitting the spindles is very easy with the supplied spanners. and they have a handy storage wing on the side of the unit.
Dust extraction is good, but much better if you wrap something around the underneath of the table. As a quick fix I just wrapped the bubble wrap, from the box, around it. With that in place it collects 90% of the dust. Quite impressive really. I will make a proper shroud at some point.
Overall not bad for the price. I think the only real problem is technique, it wasn;t as easy as I assumed. That said I think it was more my bandsaw technique compounding the problem. i.e if you have a bumpy surface, the sander just follows it. More practice in both areas is needed.
Hope that helps, questions welcome.
