Charnwood 570 P/T (and the copies) - Chip Extraction ?

Hi all. I have this dual mode P/T that I only use in Planer mode (have a separate 13" Jet Thicknesser).
The chip extraction is woeful - it works fine for a couple of passes, but then gets clogged up very quickly. It is connected to a SIP Vacuum (pic enclosed).
I find that the blockage always happens at the spot between the hose and the dust collector tray under the Charnwwood. It is that connection - "guarded" by some cross-hatch plastic to prevent large pieces going up the hose that is actually the choke-point. I could remove the cross-hatch guard (just cut it out) , but am not sure if it will still block at that choke point.

Anyone got advice ?

The cross-hatch plastic is probably there to prevent someone putting their hand inside.
I think it is worth removing this to see the effect

Actually, that's a good call. I hadn't thought of that as a reason for it !.
Will remove and see if it helps.
