Hi folks & happy new year to you all , could someone please give me advice on making a casket for a friends cat , which hasnt got long to go . Its just averaged size i would say & any advice on size , materials etc would be very helpful . I can do basic woodwork & have a router , orbital sander & various bits of kit , i can get the timber cut ( once i have sizes ) & then put it together myself, router it ? moulding ? I dont want to spend much on this project but i may be able to get some timber given , oak or iroko , thanks T

I had a commission to make a casket for someones ashes in an urn so I knew the size.
The best advice I was given at the time was you make the casket for the living so it needs to look good.

Had to make one for a dogs ashes and the packet they came in was about 300mm square by about 25mm, I suggested the box be sealed (glued down) when done because there should be no reason for it to be opened, we can then do away with hinges and locks etc, a couple of very small unobtrusive holes were put in the base, don't know if it is standard size but that is what I got.
