Our poor Vintage garden cart wheel salvaged from the South of France finally fell apart . Although a bit ambitious I thought I have a go making another (hammer) .
Made from old pallets it is 560mm diam x 50mm thick. To obtain the thickness the rim & spokes are laminated hard wood and the boss laminated from a softwood corner support, as I do not have a lathe chose the softwood so I could easily “turn” it in a simple jig on the router.
The rim radial joints are biscuits and the spokes are connected using 15mm dowels all held together using Cascamite.
It has been treated with preservative and will ultimately be painted, with a steel rim attached.
