Had a call from my bank yesterday exp[laining that someone had tried to use my bank card in Bangalore and Bangkok, strange I thought because I was sure that it was the Midlands I visited last weekend.

Luckily the bank had refused the transactions so I was lucky. I tried to think where I'd used my card that was out of the ordinary and came to the conclusion that it was a patrol station close to my home, having no proof of this I put it all out of my mind.

In last nights local paper on the front page was an artical about massive arrests at this petrol station and the retrival of scanning equipment. It also explained that a lot of people had lost thousands of pounds, I consider myself very lucky and do feel for the people who have lost money.

I guess it goes to show that you can never be too sure when using your card.

"because I was sure that it was the Midlands I visited last weekend"

True but it was close to the BLACK country

Waka - exaclty what happened to me. I went up to Edinburgh a while back, stopped for fuel on the moterstrasse and I assume that my card was cloned somewhere up the M5. A few weeks later someone spent £200 at Manchester United and then a few days later a further £200 at Comet in Hull. Never been to either in my life...certainly not  to MU. Got all the dosh back but it's very worrying. I never now let the card disappear from my line of sight in any shop - Rob

The same thing has happened round here at petrol stations

unfortunately according to the local press the thieves are swapping out the card readers at the stores with their own so keeping an eye on your card makes no difference,
Who do you trust

I suppose it could even be worse if its a debit card that gets done?
(its your own money, and then you have got to get it back?)

Fortunately it hasn't happened to me yet, but if my debit card gets done, at least I know the bank won't let them exceed my personal o/d, which isn't much. Still don't want to lose it mind, but it wouldn't be such a worry as a credit card spoof, that's for sure.

I wonder what happened to good old 'cash'?

My commiserations to anyone who has been 'cooked' anywhere in the country.

John
